McMinn gets week-long 190th celebration

County historian Joe Guy examines a marker commemorating former President Ronald Reagan's historic visit to Athens in 1985. The marker will be placed on the portico of the McMinn County Courthouse where Reagan stood to give his address on tax reform on Friday, Nov. 13, at the conclusion of McMinn County History Week. That day, McMinn County turns 190 years old.

With McMinn County celebrating its 190th birthday on Friday, Nov. 13, three area groups are already busy making plans to throw a week-long bash with something the entire county can enjoy.
