Sex, drugs and blackmail - Doctor, three others arrested after extortion plot unfolds
The TBI and Athens police arrested Dr. Rodney Dunham on a charge of dispensing prescriptions by fraud, and three other people were also arrested after the Grand Jury indicted them Thursday on multiple charges, including prescription fraud, extortion, conspiracy and filing false reports.

My 'eye-opening' adventure at the makeup counter
Walmart. That one word can conjure up more feelings from people of all ages. Hating to go there, but wanting their bargains causes more mixed emotions than are humanly possible. I have been married over 42 years, and have not paid as much attention sometimes as I should at what my wife buys when she goes there. I usually pick up some snacks and an occasional CD. -

Waiting for my inner self to 'fall back'
Daylight Saving Time. Yes, it is "saving" and not "savings." After being around for almost two-thirds of a century, I decided to investigate this crazy DST stuff and see why we have to mess up our biological clocks twice a year. It actually was thought of by Benjamin Franklin in the late 1700s, and was bantered around for over 50 years, until one William Lambert, in 1809, started a more serious debate. Charles Dowd, in 1870, really got people's attention about time issues while looking at railroad timetables, and, in 1883, the U.S. and Canada developed what was known as "Standard Time." -
We need to get colors right again
A few days ago I was standing in a park in front of the capitol building in Denver, Colorado, listening to the chant of "U.S.A., U.S.A." as Old Glory waved all around me. My three-year-old grandson was sitting on my shoulder waving a small American flag that someone had given him. I could hear his voice above all the others as he shouted as loud as he could "U.S.A., U.S.A." -
