Drive in & go to jail

McMinn County Sheriff's Department deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on County Road 177 Friday night with the intention of halting a suspected drug trafficking operation. But when more alleged criminals drove up the house, deputies were more than happy to take them into custody on drug charges.

  • Child porn arrest
    The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), in conjunction with the Athens Police Department and other agencies, obtained federal warrants for a Maine man in a child pornography investigation that resulted in his arrest earlier this week.
  • Can't hide in the grass
    Two people were arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly being in possession of one stolen car and looking suspiciously around other vehicles at two local businesses.
  • Ditch 'singer' arrested
    A man found lying in a ditch and singing was arrested Monday for his own safety and protection.
    Athens Police Department Officer Josiah Ellis said he found Thomas Lowe lying in a ditch at the corner of the intersection of Douglas Street and Park Street at around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
  • Ingleside pool opening delayed
    The opening of Ingleside Swimming Pool originally scheduled for this Saturday, May 25, has been postponed. The pool is currently undergoing a surface renovation that has not been completed due to weather-related delays.
