Christine Beene Rinehart, 82, of Etowah, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2008, at the residence of her son, Ricky Elrod, in Athens.

A native of Bridgeport, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Sam and Damie Henegar Beene, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Rinehart; two sons, Billy Gene and Allen Elrod; and one daughter, Wilma Lee. She was a member of Place for the Gospel Church.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Tom Ellis of Atlanta, Ga., Sue and Jimmy Rinehart of Huntsville, Ala., and Janice and Rodney Brogdon and Rita and Kenny Thornton, all of Etowah; three sons and daughters-in-law, Phill and Teresa Elrod of Englewood, and Ricky and Elaine Elrod and Tim and Brenda Bookout, all of Athens; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Thornton and the Rev. Fred Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
