Charles Niles

He was a lifelong member of Vonore Baptist Church, where he taught the Adult Men\'s Sunday School Class for 57 years. He also served as deacon and sang in the choir. He had a love for music and played several instruments. He was known for his sense of humor. He taught school at Vonore and Madisonville high schools, and, after retiring, he taught at Hiwassee College for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Niles; his parents, John and Bertha Niles; and one sister, Anna Lea Steele.
Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Bobby Summitt of Madisonville, and Vanda and Corbin Young of Athens; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ann Niles of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 7 p.m. Saturday at Vonore Baptist Church with the Rev. David Summitt and the Rev. Allen Young officiating. Burial was 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Vonore Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Biereley-Hale Funeral Home of Madisonville was in charge of arrangements.
