Minnis Irene Brown Miller

Minnis Irene Brown Miller, 94, of Athens, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, N.C., and a resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late John Winfred Brown Sr. and Lydia Allen Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. \"Cuddy\" Miller, on Aug. 31, 1979; one daughter, Marjorie Marie Miller; and two brothers, Fred Brown and John W. Brown Jr. She was a former dietician for Woods Memorial Hospital, City Park School and McMinn County High School. She was a member of Athens First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and was a former member of McMinn County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. \"Bob\" and Lucy Miller of Athens; one brother, Floyd Brown of Knoxville; three grandsons and their spouses, Robby and Cindy Miller, Tommy and Kerry Miller and Randy and Jamie Miller; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Chelsea, Skylar, Gracie and Lillie Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Etowah City Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Duckworth and the Rev. Kenny Witt officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Robby Miller, Randy Miller, Tommy Miller, Christopher Miller, Jim Benton, and Bobby Guthrey.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
