Thomas Randy McLeod, 52, of Athens, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend of many, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Born Nov. 24, 1956 in Milan, he was a 1974 graduate of North Side High School in Jackson. He enrolled at UT-Martin and later graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in nuclear engineering in 1978. He earned a master\'s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix in 1994. He was most recently the senior manager for IT engineering at TVA in Chattanooga, where he worked for 27 years. At the time of his passing, he was working toward a Ph.D. in IT management.

He will be missed for his love, warmth and unique sense of humor, as well as his dedication to his many family and friends.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Karen Gibbs McLeod; one son, Daniel McLeod of Murfreesboro; one daughter, Andrea McLeod, of Knoxville; his parents, Danny and Cherry Brown McLeod; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Kay McLeod; one nephew, Ian McLeod; and two nieces, Amber and Zoey McLeod, all of Jackson, TN.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Bart Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be David McLeod, Daniel McLeod, Jeff McLeod, Ian McLeod, Wesley Gibbs and Wayne Robertson.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
