Hoyt Haney

Hoyt Haney, 85, of Jackson, Ga., died Friday, June 26, 2009.

He was born in Etowah to the late George Lee and Delia Elizabeth Haney, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Joyce Haney; two brothers, Preston and Clarence Haney; and one sister, Martha Jenkins. He retired after 29 years with Eastern Airlines; attended Way of the Cross Church; and was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed farming, selling his vegetables and wagon trains.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gracie Haney of Jackson, Ga.; three children and their spouses, Linda and Gary Lathem and Marilyn Ragland, all of McDonough, Ga., and Kay Dean and Ron Barker of Brooks, Ga.; grandchildren, Teresa Lathem, Mark Deese, Julie McGlamery and Blair and Brandon Combs; great-grandsons, Wade and Zak McGlamery and Bryson Combs; one brother, R.L. Haney of Etowah; one sister, Ruth Gibson of Christian City, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Ledford officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer\'s Association in memory of Mr. Haney.
