She was a native of Monroe County, and lived in McMinn County most of her life. A daughter of the late Conway and Georgia Morton Gibson, she was of the Church of God faith and was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Slack; two sisters, Ada Mae Bryson and Cora Bell Carver; and five brothers, Carl, Charlie, Fred, Troy and Paul Gibson.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Harold Peeler of Englewood; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roy Slack and Eddie and Brenda Slack, all of Englewood; one sister, Jewel Martin of Englewood; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Joe Harris officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday and will proceed to Sunrise Cemetery for the 11 a.m. burial, which will conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
