Elizabeth Owen Davis

She was born and grew up in the house which she lived. A daughter of the late Claude and Effie Tumblin Owen, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Oscar Lavans \"Ty\" Davis, on Jan. 2, 1997; and one sister, Molena Owen Hughes. She was member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Home Service Sunday School Class. She retired from Athens Stove Works after 43 1/2 years of service, where she was secretary for F.O. Mahery Sr., F.O. Mahery Jr. and Charles Mahery. She was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College and her husband operated the Starlite Restaurant in Athens and was a member of Athenian Chapter 159 of O.E.S.
Survivors include one brother, E.K. \"Ken\" Brakebill of Sun Lake, Ariz.; special caregivers, Eddie and Cindy Billings of Etowah; special friends, Hazel Davis, James and Judy Moore, Ruth and Bill Atkins and Ken and Debbie Melton. one nephew, Kenneth Warren Brakebill of San Francisco, Calif.; one niece, Frances Brakebill Lynch of Phoenix, Ariz.; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennie Humphreys officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Billings, Adam Billings, Will Billings, Christopher Billings, Ken Melton and Jim Moore.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
