Arch Emerson, 94, of Decatur, died Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born April 14, 1915, and raised in Meigs County, where he resided most of his long life, he was a hard working farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He was a son of the late Eli Franklin and Rosie Lemons Emerson, and was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lillie Georgia Ann Roberts Emerson; three sons, James Arthur, Lawrence and Donnie Emerson; three sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Goldie Carmen and Nancy Grigsby; and four brothers, Amos, Bill, Buck and John Emerson.

Survivors include seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Imogene and Tommie Proctor and Sandra Sue and Freddie Crumley, all of Cleveland, Ethell Clouse of Rockwood, Nelta Jane Hamilton of Rockwood, Anna Snider of Ten Mile, and Shirley and Vaughn Daniels and Mary and Jerry Ricker, all of Decatur; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dudley Olif and Bonnie Emerson of Crossville, Bill and Judy Emerson of Decatur, and Samuel Otis and Betty Emerson of Cleveland; two sisters, Martha Terry of Spring City, and Hattie Roberts of Niota; one special granddaughter, Anna Renae Martin, and her husband, David, of Ooltewah; 36 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 57 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Brenizer officiating. Burial will follow in Roberts Cemetery in Ten Mile. Pallbearers will be Buddy Proctor, Norman Proctor, Randy Emerson, Jeremy Daniels, Tony Fox and David Emerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Lee Emerson and Joe Scroggins.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Home.
