A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late James and Finnie Buckner Bowers. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William Earl Watson; two sisters, Thelma Axley and Elsie Mae Harris; and nine brothers, Ernest Lee, Arthur A., Richard, Arley, Charlie, Lewis M., Lawrence, Wheeler and Elmer Bowers.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Clyde Darnell of Old Fort; two grandchildren and their spouses, Tressia and Brad Ayers of Cleveland, and Larry and Kathy Whitney of Athens; four great-grandchildren, Brandan Whitney, Jocelyn Whitney, Christopher Whitney and Matthew Whitney; and one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Whitney.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Woody and the Rev. Matthew Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Goodsprings Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
