Ersie J. Blankenship Walker

Ersie J. \"Mammie\" Blankenship Walker, 66, of Athens, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 18, 1943 in Tellico Plains to the late Roy and Prudie Mae Watson Blankenship. She was a longtime resident of McMinn county, where she and her husband, Jerry \"Don\" Walker, raised their six children. She had been a bus driver for the McMinn County Senior Center, a job which she truly loved. She later graduated from the Certified Nursing Assistant Program in Athens, which began a career with Life Care Center as a CNA on the west wing. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jerry \"Don\" Walker; and one grandson, Terry \"Tiny\" Bonds.

Left to cherish her memory are six children, Janet Bohannon, Pat Walker and wife, Karen, Ginger Moses and Shayne Walker, all of Athens, Fred Walker and wife, Linda, of Decatur, and Scott Walker of Chattanooga; grandchildren and their spouses, Jack and Kristen Bohannon, David \"Toby\" and Crystal Moses, Gerri \"Dee\" and Bill Nolan, Tylan \"Tater\" Walker, Savannah Walker, Shawn \"Boner\" Walker and Diamond and Josh Phillips, all of Athens, Roxanne and Laramie Dingess of Niota, Brad and Amanda Walker and Brandy Walker, all of Etowah, and Jason and Nikki Bonds, Stephanie and Chuck Delashmitt and Johnathan and Damian \"Tojo\" Witt, all of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Mikah Cole and Jin Bohannon, Braxton Nolan, Preston Hooper and Brittany and Ashley Moses, all of Athens, Laramie \"Boo,\" Lyric, Lennox and Lady Dingess, all of Niota, Blaine, Keara and Nathan Walker, all of Etowah, and Haley and Ian Delashmitt, both of Decatur; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Ann Ellis and Rosie and Jess Miller, all of Tellico Plains; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Howard Blankenship, Earl Blankenship and Bill and Freda Blankenship, all of Tellico Plains, and Charles and Catherine Blankenship of Riceville; very special friends, Randall Moses, Curtis Harrison, Neva Kelly, Wayne Nichols and Stan Gibson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Emmitt Morgan officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Hardshell Cemetery in Tellico Plains.

Pallbearers will be Shawn \"Boner\" Walker, David \"Toby\" Moses, Jack Bohannon, Randall Moses, Bill Nolan and Curtis Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Tylan \"Tater\" Walker, Braxton Nolan and Stan Gibson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
