Walker A. Humphreys

A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, he was a son of the late Taylor Blair and Roberta Walker Humphreys, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Layman Humphreys; four brothers, Gwain, Edward, Edwin and Murriel Humphreys; and one sister, Barbara Faye Humphreys. He was a member of Paint Rock Masonic Lodge 367 F&AM, and was recognized as a 50-year member. He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Jean O\'Daniel Humphreys of Philadelphia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and John Ward and Cynthia and Keith Kyle, all of Philadelphia, and Charlotte and Mark Jackson of Niota; one son, Harold O\'Daniel and fiancée, Lori Rutherford, both of Orange Park, Fla.; two grandsons, Chris Redman and wife, Anna, of Philadelphia, and Phillip Kyle and wife, Melissa, of Knoxville; four granddaughters, Christy Kincaid and husband, Chad, of Athens, Karen McLemore and husband, Chris, of Philadelphia, Nicole Kyle of Knoxville, and Heather Lain and husband, Jared, of Athens; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Kincaid, Anthony Smallwood, Britni McLemore and Emily Broyles; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Rhinda Humphreys, Glenn and Brenda Humphreys and Lynn and Ruth Humphreys, all of Philadelphia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Geraldine and Billy Shanahan of Ten Mile, and Janice and Marvin Frisbie of Philadelphia; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday at True Gospel Baptist Church in Sweetwater with the Rev. Sam Loy and the Rev. Jim Henry officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Edgemon Cemetery in Ten Mile.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
