James David Tilley, 60, of Madisonville, died Friday morning, Oct. 12, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was self-employed in the auto dealer, auto body and paint businesses. He bought and sold cars his whole life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching the races and being a prankster. He was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Tilley; an infant brother; his grandparents, James \"Dude\" and Carrie \"Mamie\" Tilley.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Keela Tilley and Joe Johnson of Maryville; three sons, James \"Jamie\" Tilley, Brandon Shawn Tilley and Cody Robinette, all of Madisonville; two grandchildren, Julia \"Jules\" Johnson and Ava; his mother, Bonnie Tilley of Sweetwater; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Perry Moore of Madisonville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jackie Tilley of Harriman, and Steve and Debbie Tilley of Madisonville; three nieces, Crystal, Stephanie and Melis; and five nephews, Chris Tilley and his wife, Beverly, Steven Tilley and his wife, Summer, Dennis Tilley and Daniel and Tim Moore.
Funeral services were 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Biereley-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Strickland officiating. Burial was 11 a.m. Monday in Hopewell Springs Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Biereley-Hale Funeral Home of Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.
