Jessie Higdon Evans Kyle, 72, of Athens, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012.
A native of Benton and a resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late John and Easter Yates Higdon, and was preceded in death by one son, Terry Evans; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Rosene and Olice Stone and Luther Stone; and five brothers, Spencer Higdon, Junior Higdon, Troy Higdon, Patrick Higdon and Billy Higdon.
She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Benton and was formerly employed with Pestaway Exterminators.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Garland and Paula Evans and Ken Evans, all of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Sherman Shamblin of Riceville; one brother and sister-in-law, Dee and Frances Higdon of Farner; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Reba Stone of Benton, and Mary and Don Ingram of Etowah; six grandchildren and spouses, Randy and Mary Evans, Jessica and Jonathan McCloud, Brandon Evans and his fiancée, Melissa Brooks, Amber Evans, Tanya Evans and Shaye Evans; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Gunn, Hannah Evans and Marci Evans.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Oran Creasman officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Salem Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
