Catherine Rayl Clemons, 96, of Scottsboro, Ala., died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012.
She was born in Meigs County on May 13, 1916 and graduated from Decatur High School. She then entered training at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, when she earned her RN degree. She retired from a nursing career with TVA.
She was a devoted member of Randall\'s Chapel United Methodist Church in Scottsboro, Ala., where she attended for more than 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, J.C. Clemons; her parents, Clarence and Anna White Rayl; one sister, Ruth Harmon; one brother, Thomas Rayl; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Clemons.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth Clemons and Harry and Betty Clemons, all of Scottsboro, Ala.; two grandsons and their spouses, Robert and Amy Clemons of Decatur, Ala., and Brian and Hayley Clemons of Scottsboro, Ala.; and four great-grandchildren, Emily Clemons, Tanner Clemons, Matthew Clemons and Blake Jones.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Randall\'s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Bailey and Pastor Noble Russell officiating. The body will lie in-state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro, Ala.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rudder Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Randall\'s Chapel United Methodist Church, 2101 Veterans Dr., Scottsboro, AL 35769.
