Windell N. Walden, 71, of Ten Mile, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Life Care Center of Athens.



A native and lifelong resident of Meigs County, she was a daughter of the late Earl Hardin and Emma Mary Massingill Walden and was preceded in death by one sister, Adela Waller; and three brothers, Ed Walden, J.D. Walden and Hardin Walden.



She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she had taught the Beginners Sunday School Class since 1955. She was a former employee of Sportsmaster Inc. and, for more than 40 years, she sang with the Walden Trio.



Survivors include one sister, Sue Reed of Ten Mile; one brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Louise Walden of Philadelphia; a special nephew, Marlin Walden; and several other nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Duncan and the Rev. Dusty Metcalf officiating. The body will lie in-state from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow the service in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.



Active pallbearers will be Clay Moss, Clint Moss, William Trew, Tim Walden, Caleb Heape and Joseph Heape.



The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
