Virginia Ann \"Gin\" Jackson, 72, of Etowah, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Woods Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Harwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Etowah, where she worked on the kitchen committee. She was a well known local caregiver and a devoted mother to many. A daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Williams, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Louise Williams; one son, Glen Alloway; two sisters, Barbara Williams and Vera Cooper; and one brother, Anthony Williams.
Survivors include four daughters, Katherine McCroskey (James Williams), Tonya McCroskey (Dennis Butts), Monica Jackson and Sandra Jackson, all of Etowah; four sisters, Betty (French) Jarrett and Gwen Williams, both of Etowah, Gloria Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Ferguson (William) of Nashville; two brothers, Frankie (Mary) Williams and Michael Williams, all of Etowah; a special sister-in-law, Almeda Williams of Etowah; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Juanita (Raymond) Jackson of Etowah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Harwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Gail Hendricks officiating. The Rev. Angela Billingsley will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Etowah.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
