Helen Marie Hill Ross, 82, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Life Care Center of Rhea County in Dayton.



A native of Meigs County and resident of Athens most of her life, she was a daugher of the late Ira King Sr. and Anna Lee Nora Pipes Hill, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Jean Hill Hicks and Connie Sue Hill Stakely; and three brothers, William Earl Hill, James Franklin Hill Sr., and Thomas Lee Hill Sr.



She was baptized at Central Baptist Church, and attended several different churches during her lifetime. She attended Meigs County Elementary and Meigs County High School, and was a graduate of Puett\'s Business School. She worked with Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City, and was a former employee of Ridge Textile Mill and Cooke Box Factory. She loved her animals and flowers, which she shared with others, and was a journalist and great storyteller, sharing family history with family and friends. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, always caring and giving to family and friends.



Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Clarence \"Jack\" Ross, whom she married on July 1, 1965; son and daughter-in-law, Robert \"Bob\" Coleman Jr. and wife, Frances, of Lenoir City; two grandchildren, Wendy Michelle Carroll of Cleveland and Melissa Gail Seaton of Columbia; four great-grandchildren, Alisha Ann Carroll, Canaan Mathias Seaton, Jordan Coleman Seaton and Kennedy Marie Seaton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Ellen Shugart of Athens and Joyce and Jim Bowers of Englewood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Doyle and Sally Hill of Decatur and Ira K. Jr. and Virginia Hill of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Van Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.



Pallbearers will be Randy Allen Hill, Kenneth Mark Smith, Ira King Hill III, James F. Hill II, Johnny Plemons and Clifford Ross. Jimmy Bowers will serve as an honorary pallbearer.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
