Theodore \"Ted\" Bjork, 89, of Etowah and formerly of Erie, Pa. and Sebring, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at his residence.
A son of the late George J. and Hilda Lindberg Bjork, he was born on Dec. 4, 1923, in McKeesport, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 30th Bomb Squadron, as a crew chief and mechanic on B29 bombers, achieving the rank of sergeant. He moved to Edinboro, Pa., in 1946 where he met and married his wife; they moved to Millcreek Township in 1955. He was employed at Lord Corporation in the rubber department for 35 years, first as a press operator and then as a shift supervisor. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Whisper Lake MHP in Sebring, Fla., where he served as park resident manager for 10 years and then worked part time at Pinch-A-Penny Pool Supply. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Etowah to be near their son.
A member of Grace Baptist Church in Erie, Pa., in Sebring, Fla., he attended Maranatha Baptist Church where he sang in the choir; in Etowah, he was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Violet Bouldin; and one brother, George J. Bjork Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lois Hahn Bjork of Etowah; one son and daughter in-law, David L. and Joyce Bjork of Etowah; one daughter, Wendy S. Havern of Girard, Pa.; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Wade officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. committal service.
