Anna Mae Moses Mason, 89, of Riceville, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at her residence.
A native of the Big Creek Community in Monroe County, she had resided in McMinn County for more than 50 years. She was a daughter of the late Tom and Sarah Hooper Moses, and was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Howard Mason; two sons, Billy Ray Mason and Ernest Jesse Mason; one daughter, Mary Ann Mason; one great-grandson, Jeffery Christian Chadwell; one great-granddaughter, Missy Pressley; five brothers; one sister; and two sons-in-law, Gary Don Hicks and Wilford Bates. She was a former employee of Etowah Manufacturing until her retirement.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bobby and Sue Mason of Riceville, Verlin Mason of Riceville, J.C. Mason of Athens, and Clota Mason of Etowah; three daughters and one son-in-law, Bertha Lou Hicks of Athens, Bernice Bates of Etowah, and Joyce and Don Elliott of Athens; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Bowers Watson of Madisonville; one sister-in-law, Edith Moses of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Devine officiating. Burial will be in Little Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery in Tellico Plains.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Mason, Tony Mason, Donnie Hicks, Chris Hicks, Steve Hicks, Rickey Bates, James Knox and Scott Knox. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Elliott, Wade Elliott, Randall Woods and Verlin E. Mason.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
