Joan Marie Best, 61, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday morning, Dec. 26, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on March 15, 1951, in Stevens Point, Wisc., a daughter of the late Keith and Ann McIntyre. She had been a resident of Athens for the past 10 years, having moved there from Florida. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. She owned and operated the Real Estate Marketplace and also Annabelle\'s Bridal Store. She was also a gifted florist, past member of the Lions Club and a member of the Tennessee Board of Realtors.
Survivors include her loving husband of 10 years, George Best; one daughter, Dana Dain of Waupaca, Wisc.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Keith and Jo Dain of Manawa, Wisc., and Martin John and Heather Dain of Athens; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Janice Barnhart of Waupaca, Wisc., and Judith Dain and her husband, Rodney, of Weyauwega, Wisc.; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Andrea McIntyre of Palm Coast, Fla.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church located at 130 County Road 362 in Niota, with the Rev. Stanley Hammonds officiating.
