Richard Thomas \"Dick\" Martin, 84, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his residence.
A native of Los Angeles, Calif., he grew up in Long Beach, Calif., and had been a resident of McMinn County since 1971. He was a son of the late Herbert and Mary Jane Wooley Martin, and was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Martin Jr. He retired from Hiwassee Sales in Sweetwater where he worked for 22 years, and was a former employee of Alfred\'s IGA for most of his life.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Richardson Martin of Athens; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, R.L. and Stella Richardson of Finksburg, Md.; three nephews and one niece, Roger and Susan Leamon of Niota, Tommy Leamon of Athens, Bobby Richardson of Baltimore, Md., and Debbie and Raymond Elderman of Baltimore, Md.; and many other friends and relatives.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Hannah, Charley Burke, Don Wilson, Shannon McDaniel, Roger Leamon and Jimmy Zotter.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
