Nina O\'Daniel Brown, 86, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at her home.
A native of Meigs County and longtime resident of Athens, she was a daughter of the late W.B. and Addie Benton O\'Daniel, and was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Doyle Brown; an infant son, Glen Doyle Brown; four sisters, Lillie Miller, Dollie Everett, Elsie McKeehan and Joyce O\'Daniel; two brothers, Paul O\'Daniel and Arlie O\'Daniel.
She loved to cook and travel and, during World War II, she served in Oak Ridge on the Manhattan Project. She was a member of the IBEW Local No. 175 and was retired from Thomas & Betts where she had served as chief steward for several years. She was a member of Woodward Church of God.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise Brown of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Jean Brown of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Tracy Smith and her husband, Kenny, of Knoxville; three great-grandsons, Boone Smith, Boyett Smith and Brown Smith; one sister, Edna Everett of Athens; special nieces, Raye Henry, Fay McCosh, Jeanette McGrew and Helen Dake; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. Burial will be noon Saturday in Idlewild Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allen Bowman, Kenny Smith, David Miller, Lowell Axley, Bud Everett and Don Henry.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
