Howard \"Doc\" Roberts, 86, of Etowah, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Etowah Health Care.

A native and resident of Etowah most of his life, he was a retired concrete finisher, well known in the community. A son of the late Conway and Marie Roberts, he was also preceded in death by one son, Danny R. Roberts, who was killed on Feb. 4, 1970, in Vietnam; and one brother, Harold Roberts of Monroe County. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby A. Roberts of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Ray Harrill of Etowah; one granddaughter and spouse, Missy and Jeff Lynn of Niota; one sister, Estelle Roberts of Englewood; two special nieces, Darlene Daniel and Susan Harper; several other nieces and nephews; and a loving caregiver, Katie.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Cemetery with Paul Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Chris Daugherty, Ray Harrill, Leon Roberts, Calvin Farley, Jeff Lynn and Jared Lynn.

Honorary pallbearers were Clayton Roberts, Gary Roberts, Brennan Golden, Brock Golden, Jonny Cole and Donnie Cole.

No formal visitation was held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shady Grove Cemetery, c/o Sherry Shadden, 2203 Mecca Pike, Englewood, TN 37329.
