Mary Elizabeth Renegar Pardue, 91, of Athens, died on Friday night, Jan. 18, 2013, at Wellington Place of Athens after a long illness.
She was born in McMinn County on May 16, 1921, and was a daughter of the late George W. and Mary Elizabeth Patrick Renegar and her stepmother, Mary Ellen Renegar Plank, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy Pardue; two sisters, Sarah Edna Jones and Pauline Woods; and a brother, Karl Renegar.
She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Athens and was presently a member of the Athens Christian Church. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn and Leon Hammond of Athens, Sharon and Bobby Maddox of Spartanburg, S.C., and Gail McGrath of Arlington, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie Pardue of Plant City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Keena Hammond, Lacey Maddox, Katie Wolf, Todd Grubb, Patrick Hammond, Kevin Hammond, David Pardue, Darrell Pardue, Zachary Maddox and J.T. McGrath; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Schaffer of Pittsburg, Pa.; one brother, George Renegar of Dickson; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Dr. Jason Clark and Minister Darrin Long officiating.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank the Staff of Wellington Place of Athens for the wonderful care and devotion to Mrs. Pardue during her extended stay.
