Elizabeth McConaghy Stansberry, 90, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Life Care Center of Athens.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., and a resident of Athens since 1962, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Richards McConaghy. She was a member Mars Hill Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5146. She was also a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary Post in Chattanooga, and a member of RSVP and the McMinn Senior Activity Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stansberry Jr.
Survivors include one sister, Christine M. Zakes of New Hope, Pa.; two nephews, Rick Woody of Athens and Richard Zakes of New Hope, Pa.; her best friend, Nancy \"Lib\" Wilson of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. National Cemetery in Chattanooga with the Rev. Les Rust officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the McMinn Senior Activity Center and Mars Hill Presbyterian Church.
