Jerry Edward Rice, 70, of Ten Mile, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.
He was a member of Peakland Baptist Church in Ten Mille, where he served as a deacon for many years. Retired from TVA and a former employee of the Meigs County Sheriff\'s Department, he was the owner and operator of Jerry\'s Small Engine Repair Shop. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. He was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Rice; his mother and stepfather, Opal Pauline Butler Bowman and La Fawn Bowman; and his grandmother, Grace Reed Butler.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Jean Queen Rice of Ten Mile; one daughter and son-in-law, DeLinda and Michael Baker of Powell; one son, DeWayne Edward Rice of Atlanta, Ga.; his grandchildren, Caysen, Camden and Cayden Baker of Powell; four sisters, Judy Bowman Cooley of Athens, Janet McKenzie of Decatur, Elizabeth Tate of Sevierville and Debbie Bowman of Chattanooga; one brother, Larry Bowman of Decatur; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended Rice family.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday in Kyker\'s Chapel with the Rev. Keith Kile, Dr. Brian Cooper and Dr. Gene Rice officiating. Burial followed in Sweetwater Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Bob Rice, Rick Honeycutt, Eddie Davis, Ricky Honeycutt, Darrell Whitted and Michael Baker.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peakland Baptist Church in Ten Mile.
