Dolores S. Miller

Feb. 8, 2013

Dolores S. Miller, 76, of Ten Mile, passed away early Friday morning, Feb. 8, 2013, at Sweetwater Hospital.

Born on March 7, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Esther Clements Bordowitz, she spent most of her childhood in Whitney, Ontario, Canada, near Algonquin Park. As a teen she lived in Chicago and in Black Oak, Ind. She worked as a waitress from the age of 16 until her retirement at the age of 60. She enjoyed serving her customers and the camaraderie of her fellow employees. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, John, Mary and Peter; and her first husband, the father of her children, Robert A. Miller of Albion, Ill. She attended Oak Grove Methodist Church in Ten Mile.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Anna and George Grabowski of Ten Mile, Allan and Carol Miller of Rochester, Minn., and Brian Scott Miller of Ten Mile; one granddaughter, Aubrey Miller of Chicago, Ill.; her second husband, John Hopkins of Ten Mile; a sister-in-law, Christine Bordowitz of Athens; and several cousins, nieces and nephews around the country.

She had arranged for her body to be used in medical education and there is no funeral planned at this time.

Her family suggests anyone wanting to commemorate Dolores\' life might donate to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association, as she was a 13-year survivor of lung cancer.
