Ruby Nelline Smith, 79, of Athens, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday night, Feb. 9, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

A daughter of the late James and Minnie Webb and a lifelong resident of Athens, she was born on March 20, 1933. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Allyssa Smith; one sister, Betty Bandy; and four brothers, Grady Webb, Lake Webb, Robert Webb and John Webb. She was of the Baptist faith.

Ruby leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, John Thomas Smith; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Rachel Smith; one sister, Ruth Cornett; two brothers, Junior Webb and Bill Webb; five grandchildren, Cody Smith, Brandi Smith, Christi Smith, Garrett Smith and Tori Smith; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

The family will host a memorial celebration at the family home located at 340 County Road 370 in Athens at 6 p.m. Saturday.

They request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tennessee Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 404 BNA Drive Suite 102, Nashville, TN 37217 in Ruby\'s memory.
