Carrie Alma Hicks King, 70, of Athens, was welcomed into Heaven\'s Gates on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.
A lifelong resident of Athens and McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Joe Van and Mable Alma Jack Hicks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl King; three sisters, Devida Hicks, Joyce Jones and June Miller; and four brothers, Kenneth Hicks, Jerry Hicks, Butch Hicks and Roger Hicks.
She was a member of Riceville Church of Christ and was retired from Thomas & Betts with more than 37 years of service.
Survivors include one daughter, Annette Hicks Powers of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kristopher and Greta King of Athens, and Mitchell and Christy King of Conway, Ark.; six grandchildren, Josh Powers, Darryn King, Haydon King, Katie Grace King, William King and Anderson King; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Linda and Harvey Lunsford and Artie \"Tience\" Hicks, all of Athens; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Alfreda King of Athens, and Larry and Ute King of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Bill Hicks officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Josh Powers, Craig Hicks, Danny Ledford, Ronnie Morgan, Jerry Fain, Taylor Hicks, Johnny Hicks and Terry Graves.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial Dept., 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
