Frances Elizabeth Frye Swafford, 70, of Athens, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at her residence.
She was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. She was always a hard worker, whether at home or on the job. She worked for several years at the sewing factories in Decatur.
A daughter of the late Elizabeth Frye, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie D. Swafford; and two sons, Rocky E. Swafford and David L. Swafford.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa and Mike Chrisman, Tammy Holmes and Cindy and Jody Watson, all of Athens; three grandsons: Dodj Watson, Will Holmes and Todd Belk; three granddaughters, Megan Chrisman, April Myers and Whitney Holmes; one great-grandson, Luke Myers; one sister, Freda Mann of Knoxville; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Farrell and Liz Frye and Franklin \"Dude\" Frye, all of Athens, and Floyd Frye and Freddie and Sue Ann Frye, all of Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona Womac, Brenda and Fletcher Letner and Larry and Annie Swafford; several special friends, Raye Henry, Charlene Nunnery, Joyce Yates and Nini Brown; and special caretakers, Farrell Frye, Leona Womac and Brenda Letner.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Walker and the Rev. Michael Hodsden officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Chrisman, Jody Watson, Kenny Morgan, Franklin Frye II, George Lasher and Matt Myers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
