Allen L. Fry Sr., 65, of Athens, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Fry and LaFon Moore.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Delores A. Fry of Athens; one son, Allen L. Fry Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mitzi and Jason Shaffer of Sweetwater, and Alice Fry of Athens; three grandchildren, Sieria Fry of Jacksonville, Fla., Tristan Fry of New York, and Ja\'Kobe Shaffer of Sweetwater; nieces and their spouses, Missy and Greg Shandler of Shawnee, Kan., and Christy and Travis Long of Sweetwater; one nephew, James Rogers of Athens; a great-niece and great-nephew, Austin and Darian Long of Sweetwater; and his dear friend, Paul Myers of Sweetwater.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Kyker Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Van Elkins officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Sweetwater Memorial Park with full military honors provided by Sweetwater Gold Star VFW Post 5156 and members of the Monroe County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 93.
Kyker Funeral Home of Sweetwater is in charge of arrangements.
