Minnie Lena Gennoe Walden, 85, of Ten Mile, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the residence of her daughter in Ten Mile.
A native of McMinn County and a resident of Meigs County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Burgess Eugene and Maudie Lee Massingile Gennoe. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, the Rev. J.D. Walden, on May 30, 2002. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was very active with the Ladies Prayer Room.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Don and Judy Walden, Marlin Walden and Trendell and Mary Ann Walden, all of Ten Mile, and Stacy and Missy Walden of Hixson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Ray Price of Athens, and Louise and Hart Bartley and Joyce and Paul Borden, all of Ten Mile; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty and J.D. Brumley of Durant, Okla., and Virginia Hancock of Elkins, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Metcalf, the Rev. Darrell Walden and the Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. The body will lie in-state from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Burial will follow the service in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
