J.L. Janeway, 90, of Concord, died Saturday morning, May 4, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was of the Baptist faith and started and ran a successful automotive mechanic business - Janeway Automotive. His passion was building beautiful wood furniture with perfection and sharing his garden with family and friends.
He was a caregiver for family members throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Luny Janeway and Emily Maude Clark Ownby Janeway; two sisters, Gladys Janeway and Mary J. Atkins; two half-sisters, Ruth Ownby and Isham Turbyville; and three half-brothers, Hugh, Kenneth, and Leo Ownby.
Survivors include the love of his life, Johnnie Armstrong Janeway; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruby J. Brock and Sue J. and Mario Fontana; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the Farragut Chapel of Click Funeral Home with the Rev. Leslie Rust officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Masonic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
