Catherine Meyer, 73, of Athens, died Friday morning, May 3, 2013, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.
A native and longtime resident of New Jersey, she had lived in Athens for seven years. A daughter of the late Thomas Andrew and Lillian Francis Dowling Fleming, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Ann Hattendorf.
She was a member of St. Mary\'s Catholic Church of Athens.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Harry Meyer of Athens; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Karen and Rick Slagle of Knoxville, Veronica and Michael Ryan of Trenton, Fla., Kathleen and Brian Minnuies of Athens, and Susan Meyer of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Lorraine Meyer of Hawthorne, Fla., Thomas and Nancy Meyer of Chiefland, Fla., and Richard and Teresa Meyer of Waupaca, Wisc.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Carole Fleming of Dallas, Texas, and William and Isabelle Fleming of Cliffwood Beach, N.J.; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Catholic Mass was held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary\'s Catholic Church with Father William Oruko officiating.
The family received friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services.
