Anthony \"Tony\" Curtis Brackett, 58, of Niota, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was a heavy equipment operator at Hampton Construction for more than 40 years and was of the Baptist faith.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Curtis C. Brackett, and was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Brackett; and one grandson, Kaegan Roberts.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Melita Shelton Brackett of Niota; his mother, Aldean Davis Brackett of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lara and Travis Wright of Niota, and Amber and Donnie Atkins of Madisonville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Travis and Alisha Brackett of Decatur, and Dustin Shelton of Sweetwater; six grandchildren, Abigayle Wright, Gage Wright, Kolbie Wright, Lexi Atkins, Bryson Atkins and David Freeman; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Lamar Ellison of Etowah; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Galyon of Sweetwater; two brothers-in-law, Clint Galyon of Niota, and James Galyon of Sweetwater; one sister-in-law, Vickie Caywood of Sweetwater; his special friends, Dickie and Janet Walker, Clifton Hampton, Kim and Brittany Womac and many others; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Oran Creasman and the Rev. Mark Latham officiating.
