Robert Jason \"J.D.\" Davis, 37, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1975, to Robert M. and Alma Hitchcock Davis. He was a graduate of Alcoa High School, where he played basketball, football and ran track. He attended NEO in Oklahoma and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a longtime employee of Ted Russell Ford in Knoxville, and was on the staff at Foothills Funeral Home. He was a dedicated member of Eternal Life Harvest Center in Knoxville, where he served as an usher. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the University of Tennessee Volunteers and Chicago Bears.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Hitchcock and Willie and Lacy D. Nelson; one aunt, Claudia Hitchcock; and one uncle, Robert Bennie Hitchcock.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Alma Davis of Louisville; one stepson, Jacob Belcher of Knoxville; two sisters, Lisa Davis of Nashville, and Robin Davis Curry and her husband, Courtland, of Knoxville; one brother, Elijah Davis of Maryville; two nephews, Jontae Perrin and Javan Curry; two adoptive brothers, Arsenio Samaniego of Panama City, Panama, and Travis Jackson of Lexington, Ky.; three aunts and two spouses, Betty Barner of Greeneville, Sue and Robert Jobe of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Ann and John Boyd of Riceville; four uncles and two spouses, Harold and Leona Hitchcock, Malcolm and Linda Hitchcock of Grand Rapids, Mich., Johnnie Hitchcock of Etowah, and Paul Hitchcock of Athens; and numerous cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at noon Tuesday at Eternal Life Harvest Center, located at 1801 Western Avenue in Knoxville, with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow the service in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, located on Alcoa Highway in Alcoa.
Friends may call at the home of Robert and Alma Davis at 3637 Buck Drive in Louisville.
The body may be viewed after noon Monday at Foothills Funeral Home in Maryville.
