James Lewis \"Cotton\" Womack

James Lewis \"Cotton\" Womack, 80, of Athens, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 23, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Big Springs in Meigs County, and a longtime resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Dock and Amanda Goforth Womack. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Reba Moses, Pearl Palmer and Hazel Womack; and five brothers, Jesse, Leolais \"Dude,\" Johnny, Harvey and William Womack.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda and Eugene Moses of Decatur, and Debbie Shaver of Athens; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and JoAnn Womack, and George Womack, all of Athens; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Womack of Athens; and a special friend, Peggy Yarber of Athens.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Sorah officiating.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Beta Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Palmer, Donny Moses, Steve Marsh, Jay Moses, Gene Moses and Albert Moses.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
