Clarence \"Rod\" Gore, 67, of Etowah, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Veterans Hospital in Nashville.
A native of West Virginia, he was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from CSX Railroad.
He was a son of the late Mason and Vivian Gore of West Virginia, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Gore and Kenneth Gore; and one sister, Shirley Patton.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Brenda Gore of Etowah; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Kirk Morgan, Nikki and Jeremiah Dills, and Tasha and Ernie Shackelford, all from Athens; six grandchildren, Makenzie Upton, Luke Morgan, Leo Dills, Karrington Dills, Kira Morgan and Landon Shackelford; one sister, Jewell Kimbler; the mother of his three daughters, Wanoka Underdown Ballew; many nieces and nephews and very loving extended family; and his beloved dogs, Macey and Oscar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Brother Don Billingsley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service on Tuesday in Green Hill Cemetery with military honors.
